Spiritual Warfare- Part 1 -By- Sanjay Sanil
Spiritual warfare is very real. Whether we know about it or not or whether we like it or not we are constantly in a spiritual warfare. Almost every day we face different kinds of battle in our life. It comes in different shapes and forms e.g. Relationships, finances, sickness etc…
There are 3 kinds of spirit.
1. God’s Spirit.
2. Man’s spirit and
3. evil spirits.
There are two kinds of spiritual kingdoms.-
1. God’s kingdom and satan’s kingdom.
Jesus taught us how to pray. Matt 6:9 "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven."
Why did Jesus pray for God’s kingdom to come on earth? It was because satan was ruling the earth.
How did satan get this kingdom on earth and who is satan? In the book of Ezekiel, Isaiah and Revelation satan ( who was also known as Lucifer) is mentioned. He was a cherubim of God who played instrument before the Lord but then pride came in to him and he wanted to exalt himself above God and he rebelled against God with one third of the angels. he was thrown down on the earth which was void and empty.
Ezekiel 28:11-15 (NKJV) "11 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“You were the seal of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The sardius, topaz, and diamond,
Beryl, onyx, and jasper,
Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.
The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes
Was prepared for you on the day you were created.
14 “You were the anointed cherub who covers;
I established you;
You were on the holy mountain of God;
You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,
Till iniquity was found in you."
Isaiah 14:11-15 (NKJV) "11 Your pomp is brought down to Sheol,
And the sound of your stringed instruments;
The maggot is spread under you,
And worms cover you.’
The Fall of Lucifer
12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit."
Revelation 12:7-11 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
God created the man and the woman and gave then authority.
Gen 1:28 "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
1. Subdue means- to govern, to conquer, to keep under, bring in to subjection.
2. Dominion means- to reign, to rule.
Eve was tempted by satan and she fell in to the trap of satan and so did Adam. They disobeyed God and obeyed satan. By doing so Adam and Eve gave dominion to satan which God had given to Adam and Eve.
Man became subject to satan and to sin.
Matt 4:8 "Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”"
In the second part we will study more on spiritual warfare which will be posted very soon. We will study that what man had lost Jesus had gained it back by His death on the cross and resurrection.
